Abstract

We discuss theories leading to the intermediate state

N Δ

and

Δ Δ

contributions to

V_{NN}

. We focus on the customary addition of

L_{Δ N π}^{'}

to

L_{π NN}^{'}

in a conventional field theory and argue that overcounting of contributions to

t_{π N}

and

V_{NN}

will be the rule.
