Abstract
The effect of abrupt changes in serum sodium concentration on cartilage sodium content was studied in the rabbit. Hyponatremia (serum Na 106 meq./l) resulted in a loss of 13% of cartilage sodium; hypernatremia (serum Na 202) a gain of 11%.Keywords
