Pulse Power Compression by Fast Opening Switch

Abstract
A Parameter survey for an inductive storage pulse compression system in a vacuum is presented. The plasma erosion switch was considered a fast opening switch. The optimum power amplification and efficiency were obtained with respect to opening start time, input pulse width and load impedance. A switch with faster opening speed was desired for the high preformance of the pulse compression system. An analysis of the plasma erosion switch showed that switch plasma which has a low density, small area and a high injection velocity is required for the pulse compression system.
