Abstract
Large numbers of Blacks, mostly African domestic servants, are resident in the White suburbs of Johannesburg. The spatial distribution of this group is shown to be strongly dependent on patterns of economic status among Whites. Decreasing Black populations in White areas are attributed to a combination of political and economic factors. Keywords
