Abstract
Having reviewed metabolic manifestations of steroid antagonism in both male and female reproductive tracts with respect to water and electrolyte metabolism, energy metabolism, and protein synthesis and growth, the authors probe into possible sites and mechanisms of steroid interaction. For this they consider the modification of adenohypophyseal function, interaction in the target organ itself, interaction at sites distal to the target organ, not neglecting possible alterations in organ permeability and competition for active sites in protein molecules. Keywords
