Abstract
Based on N-balance experiments with broiler chickens the relations between lysine content, which was gradually increased and N-retention, b-value of protein and relative urine-N excretion were tested. In the limitation range, these characteristics were closely correlated. The operational possibility of lysine in the animal (bc-1) decreased significantly with increasing lysine supplement in the limitation range. Differences in the temporal course of the absorption of synthetic and native amino acids, the high share of maintenance of the total N-metabolism in connection with the relatively low lysine requirement for maintenance and the constant N-maintenance requirement taken as a basis, are considered the main reasons for observations.
