Abstract
Two-photon first ionisation cross sections were computed for Ne and Ar by exploiting the results of a random phase approximation calculation. The final states lying in the continuum were described in a static-exchange-type model. The calculations were performed with the length and velocity form of the perturbation operator for the differential and total cross sections. The results of the calculations are presented for linearly as well as for circularly polarised light. Keywords
