Abstract
Four methods of producing oats aneuploids were compared. No haploids were found for use in aneuploid production. Advanced derivatives of backcrossed pentaploid hybrids yield a high frequency of aneuploids, but their heterogeneity and heterozygosity make their use impractical. Varietal populations have a low yield of aneuploids, but those obtained are homozygous. The use of irradiated populations, screened for pollen and seed sterility before cytological selection, appears to be the most efficient method because of very high aneuploid yield combined with homozygosity. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
