Abstract
We report high-resolution x-ray scattering measurements of the commensurate-incommensurate transition of Kr on graphite which has been preplated with 0.1 monolayer of Xe. The Xe raises transition pressure, and produces a 31% range of pressures over which composite lineshapes are observed. These results are discussed in terms of a solubility gap between commensurate and incommensurate phases. Keywords
