Abstract
The mild alkaline hydrolysis of certain phospholipids was studied. Glycerylphosphoryl inositol and glycerylphosphoryl serine were separated from one another and from other phosphates, on anion-exchange columns. The two diesters were isolated by this method and analyzed. Glycerylphosphoryl choline is not retained by the columns used. It is suggested that the glycerophosphate observed in hydrolysates of tissue phospholipids cannot arise from any known lipid except phosphatidic acid. Keywords
