Abstract
We discuss the properties of the transition operator for K+ photoproduction on a free proton and for hypernuclear associated production. The main points discussed are (i) the relation between the operators in the pseudoscalar and the pseudovector-derivative coupling schemes; (ii) the theoretical uncertainties embedded in the tree-level operator; (iii) the nuclear-structure effects and uncertainties in the relativistic many-body model based on the Dirac equation with large scalar and vector potentials. Keywords
