Abstract
Malignant melanoma affecting the mucosal surfaces of the head and neck is a rare condition. In a retrospective review of 36 patients, 33 cases involved the nasal cavity and 3 affected the sinuses, 1 from the maxilla and 2 from the ethmoids. Diagnosis was made by staining techniques and confirmed by EM. Five patients had involved cervical nodes and 2 had secondary deposits in the lungs. Radical local surgery and radiotherapy provided the best prognosis, with repeated excision of any local recurrence of lymph node deposits. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
