Pion-induced nucleon knockout from polarized nuclei

Abstract
Distorted wave impulse approximation predictions are made for quasifree (π,πN) nucleon knockout reactions on polarized nuclear targets. The case of =(1/2 targets is considered in detail with particular reference to . It is shown, for this case, that three terms, having somewhat different physical origins, contribute to the spin-up/spin-down asymmetry.
