Abstract
The optimal concns. of amino acids, vits., nucleic acid constituents and various accessory growth factors needed for the maintenance of the life of animal cells in tissue cultures have been established and a completely synthetic feeding solution has been devised. The mixture will not support cell life indefinitely, but is adequate to maintain chick embryo cells for an avg. of 4-5 wks. The mixture is being used as a basal synthetic medium for further studies of the unidentified growth-promoting substances in natural media. Keywords
