Abstract
The formation of blind small intestinal segments caused either a macrocytic or normocytic anemia to develop in adult albino rats in 22-86 days. Control animals on the same diet did not develop anemia. The addition of 50 mg. of aureomycin to the daily diet prevented the anemia. In all operated animals a marked enlargement and hypertrophy of the blind segment characteristic of intestinal obstruction was observed. No ulcerations of the gastro-intestinal tract were found. Keywords
