Alteration of Hepatic Storage of Radiolabeled Vit. B12.

Abstract
Comparison of the hepatic storage of radiolabeled cyanocobalamin in a control subject and in a subject given a series of one hundred 1 mg-doses of non-radioactive vitamin B12 parenterally, indicates that it is possible to reduce the stored amount of radioactive vitamin B12 in the body by this technique. At the end of 7.5 months the experimental subject retained 15.8% of the initial radioactivity over the liver as compared to 71.4% in the control person. Radioactivity was lost in the urine in the experimental subject but not in the control subject. The study showed that massive parenteral doses of vitamin B12 exchanged with cyanocobalamin stored in the liver.
