Abstract
The range capability of gallium arsenide (GaAs) laser radar against extended targets and corner reflectors under both negligible and high background radiation condition is evaluated. The computations are carried out for a space environment. An experimental GaAs laser radar was constructed. The operational results obtained with this radar in the atmosphere against several diffuse targets and a corner reflector are presented. Keywords
