Abstract
The authors have developed a new kind of tunable distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) laser that has a tunable stair guide. This allows continuous wavelength tuning when using single current injection. The laser was fabricated by two-step selective area metal organic vapour phase epitaxy. A continuous wavelength tuning range of 3.8 nm at a wavelength of 1.55 µm was achieved. Keywords
