Safe Transfusion Apparatus

Abstract
The principles of design of transfusion sets necessary to accomplish blood transfusion safe for the recipient and satisfactory to the anesthesiologist, are detailed. Dimensions and the proper relationship of couplers, filters, drip chambers, tubing, and infusion cannula to their intended task, are described. The adaption of simple transfusion equipment to the more rigorous requirements of anesthesiology[long dash]to provide rapid blood flow, venous pressure monitoring and intermittent medication in an unconscious patient are related to a proper design of transfusion sets.
