Mean charge of ions () emerging from aluminum foils

Abstract
We have determined the mean charge for projectiles exiting thin Al foils at a velocity . The results are compared with previous data for the same projectiles exiting thin C foils. In the region , the differences are observed to be as large as solid-gas differences.
