Higher-order WKB phase shifts for the heavy-ion optical potential

Abstract
It is shown that a higher-order correction improves the accuracy of the zeroth order WKB phase for a heavy-ion optical potential. The WKB phase shifts, correct to the first order in , agree with those obtained from a quantal optical model code.
