Fibrinolytic and Proteolytic Activity of a Human ‘Plasminogen’, Prepared From Fraction III of Human Plasma

Abstract
A method of prepn. of plasminogen from fraction 3 of human plasma by extraction with .05 [image] sulfuric acid, followed by treatment with 1 [image] NaOH and 1 [image] HCl is descr. Precipitation is produced by phosphate buffer and the precipitate dissolved in distilled water slightly acidified with HCl. This material was compared with crystalline trypsin and found to be relatively much more fibrinolytic and less proteolytic as tested by its effect on fibrinogen and casein. This material was also found to be inhibited less readily by soybean inhibitor.
