Abstract
Analytic expressions have been obtained for transmissive and reflective intensities for an absorbing guest-host nematic liquid-crystal display as functions of the liquid-crystal material parameters (elastic constants, dielectric constants, refractive indices, and absorption coefficients), pretilt angle, cell thickness, applied voltage, and viewing angle in the principal viewing plane. Excellent agreement between the theoretical and experimental results is demonstrated. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
