Abstract
Eight strains of C. neoformans were isolated from 43 specimens collected from bird habitats in three widely separated geographic areas in Thailand. The organism was recovered from soil contaminated with pigeon droppings, soil contaminated with cuckoo droppings, and from pigeon nests. These isolations represent the first recovery of this organism from natural substrates in Southeast Asia and illustrate the affinity of the organism for avian habitats. Keywords
