Abstract
Relative oscillator strengths of the diffuse and the sharp series of RbI have been measured in absorption and emission. Experimental lifetimes of nD levels determined by Marek and Münster are used to calibrate the f values to an absolute scale. The results agree very well with f values calculated via the scaled Thomas-Fermi potential. The intensity ratios of the doublet components of the principal series are also measured and compared with the theory. Keywords
