Bradykinin (A Vasoactive Polypeptide)

Abstract
THE plasma kinins are vasoactive polypeptides deriveoteins. Plasma kinin-forming enzyme, named kallikrein, produces plasma kinins when incubated with plasma or fractionated globulin. Trypsin and proteolytic enzymes in snake venom act as kinin-forming substances. In the human body most of this type of enzyme is found in glandular tissue, urine and blood. An important member of the group of plasma kinins is bradykinin.Physiologic investigation of the plasma kinins, followed by the synthesis of bradykinin, has aroused interest in the significance of this vasoactive poly-peptide in the pathogenesis of human disease.
