TERMINAL HYPERTHERMIA FOLLOWING INTRATHECAL STREPTOKINASE ADMINISTRATION IN A CASE OF TUBERCULOUS MENINGITIS

Abstract
The fibrinolytic enzyme streptokinase was given as a chemotherapeutic adjunct to p-aminosalycylic acid and streptomycin as intensive therapy in the treatment of tuberculous meningitis. It is felt that the use of such an adjunct was the direct cause of the hyperthermia; streptokinase by such admn. is no longer recommended.
