Abstract
Generalization of a voluntary response shows no increase with amounts of training between 0 to 30 trials. It is associated with short-latency responding. In view of these findings, the process of response selection in such generalization cannot easily be explained solely in terms of a habit mechanism. It is suggested that factors speeding or slowing response delivery have the effect of altering S''s [ subjects ] selection among temporally stacked response tendencies. Keywords
