Reproductive Behavior of Nematospiroides dubius In vivo and In vitro

Abstract
Late fourth- and early fifth-stage Nematospiroides dubius were isolated from the intestines of mice, inoculated into culture media, and their development and behavior studied. Many of these worms became, sexually mature and produced sperm and ova, most of which were apparently normal. Copulation and insemination, as well as the changes in sperm morphology which follow insemination, were similar to those observed in 7- to 10-day-old infections in mice. Some eggs in the females in culture were apparently fertilized, but invariably failed to develop beyond early cleavage.
