Mechanics of Texturing Thermoplastic Yarns

Abstract
This reports on an investigation of spontaneous surging of a laboratory model false-twist texturing system during texture of fully-drawn yarns. The cycle of threadline tension and torque is examined and evaluated in terms of rota tional slippage of the threadline at the spindle pin. Study is made of the effect of heater temperature, yarn lubrication, and prior treatment on the frequency of natural surging. Forced disturbances and system response thereto are also studied. Cyclic variations of spindle speed and of draw point location are two system disturbances studied, and threadlinc tension and torque rcsponses are reported. Finally, draw-texturing system disturbances are shown to be related to periodic variations in draw force of POV-PKT feed yarn.
