Abstract
In studying the area surrounding the copper anode of a stabilised arc burning in an argon atmosphere, it was found that the presence of metal vapours in the plasma leads to: a temperature decrease; a significant reduction of the electric field; a large increase in electrical conductivity. These results show that an important part of the conduction could take place at the discharge circumference. Keywords
