Abstract
A model of the circulation was used to show that increasing amts. of fluid regurgitate into the "left ventricle" with increasingly large "aortic insufficiencies." A formula was constructed for the calculation of these amts. using factors measurable in man which checked with the observed leaks in the schema under certain conditions. Applying the formula to hypothetical human aortic insufficiencies and using the gross output per beat thus obtainable in a standard work formula showed increases in the work of the left ventricle amounting to 135-358% of normal work. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
