Cu L2,3M4,5 x-ray spectra of Cu10 Pd90

Abstract
The Cu L2,3M4,5 and Pd L3-N4,5 x-ray spectra of Cu10 Pd90 have been measured by recording the photoelectron spectra they excite from the C 1s level of graphite. They are compared with x-ray photoemission spectra of the Cu10 Pd90 conduction band. The comparison shows that the Cu d band extends over the whole width of the alloy conduction band in agreement with the predictions of self-consistent-field Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker coherent-potential-approximation band-structure calculations. The Cu L2,3M4,5 x-ray spectra of Cu10 Pd90 are accompanied by L2,3M4,5M4,5M4,5 double-ionization satellites which show G41 and F3 quasiatomic components.
