Abstract
The excretion of urinary cyclic AMP (cAMP) and estriol was determined in a group of women in late toxaemic pregnancy and in 26 women with normal pregnancies. Fifteen of the toxaemic patients were not receiving medication at the time of analysis and nine were receiving medication for various reasons. The excretion of cAMP was found to be decreased in late untreated toxaemia (to half of the value in normal pregnancy). Some of these drugs (di-hydralazine, hydrochlorothiazide) seemed to normalize the cAMP excretion in toxaemic patients. There was no correlation between cAMP excretion and estriol excretion. Keywords
