Abstract
Measurements have been made of the total neutron cross section of 241Pu over the energy ranges of 0.025 eV to 0.75 eV and 13.8 eV to 1000 eV, using a specimen of PuO2 powder and one of Pu–Al alloy. The 241Pu content of the plutonium was 80%. The specimen thickness was known to 2%. The measurements were made with the B.N.L.–A.E.C.L. chopper at C.R.N.L., using resolutions up to 0.02 μsec/m. The results are given in graphical form. Resonance parameters are given for the region from 12 eV to 32 eV. When these parameters are used with the single-level Breit–Wigner formula a reasonable fit to the data is obtained. Keywords
