Abstract
IN this issue we publish a Special Report entitled "New Perspectives on the Medical Consequences of Nuclear War." 1 This document, compiled by Dr. Alexander Leaf, is based on information presented last year at an international symposium sponsored by the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and now available in an important book just released.2 It also reflects material derived from a recent major study sponsored by the International Council of Scientific Unions.3 , 4 Leaf's article deals mainly with new information about the probable numbers of immediate casualties from fire, blast, and radiation; the likely impairment of immune function . . .Keywords
