Abstract
The chromosome numbers of some western Canadian and Arctic higher plant species are listed, and brief taxonomic notes on some of the counts appear in the discussion. An outline of the writer's understanding of the role of biosystematics in taxonomy and the significance of chromosome numbers in taxonomy is contained in the introduction. Keywords
