Abstract
From a measurement of the Mössbauer absorption spectrum of ferrous fluosilicate for polarized 14.4-kev radiation, the quadrupole moment of the first excited state of is deduced to be +0.12 b. This value is subject to a small correction due to the internal Sternheimer effect for the ion.
