Abstract
A modelfor a mesophase composed of rod-like molecules between whichrepulsiveforces are dominant is discusedand shown to lead to values of P2 which are always positive. Under certian conditons however, the model leads to negeative values of the order parameter p4. One negative experimental value for P4 has already been reported form Raman light scattering studies.Keywords
