Abstract
CCI4 was given to groups of adult rats fed a casein diet. The serum level of vitamin B12 was increased shortly after the injection of this agent. Serum level returned to normal several days afterwards. The administration of CCI4 caused no similar increase in rats previously offered a soybean meal diet containing a small amount of vitamin B12. Administration of CCI4 likewise increased the urinary excretion of parenterally given radioactive vitamin B12 or of absorbed radioactive vitamin B12 given orally. The physiological significances of these finding are discussed. Keywords
