The Impact of Training for Empirically Based Practice

Abstract
This paper reports on the impact of a course designed to teach empirically based practice procedures to second year graduate students. Consistent with previous research, the course produced a short-term effect on students which began to dissipate in the months following graduation. Analysis showed that long-term impact was related to the attitudes of co-workers and the type of agency in which one worked. Several strategies are suggested for countering the negative influence of these work related factors.Keywords
