Abstract
Human plasminogen prepd. by a previously reported method, was activated by streptokinase (SK-SD) and injd. into 10 dogs and 30 rabbits. Bleeding and clotting times of the whole blood and fibrinolytic and proteolytic activity of the animals'' sera were tested and the general reaction of the animals observed. Fibrinolytic activity and the lysis of whole blood clots was found to be increased after injns. of 3.5 mg. or more of this material. After discontinuance of the injn., this lytic activity rapidly returned to normal. Clotting time was not affected in a reproducible manner. The proteolytic activity was increased little as compared with the fibrinolytic activity. Toxic reactions were not severe, there were no deaths thought to be due to the drug and there was no evidence of anaphylactic or sensitivity reactions. Keywords
