Precipitin Production Following Massive Injection of BSA in Adult Chickens

Abstract
Chickens received one injection of bovine serum albumin (BSA). A dose of 40 mg/kg produced an immune response, whereas 2610 mg failed to provoke such a response in 9 out of 14 chickens, as judged by precipitating antibody and antigen clearance period. In the unresponsive birds a secondary injection of 40 mg antigen failed to produce an immune response. Unresponsive-ness was specific, insofar as the chickens unresponsive to BSA produced antibodies to human gamma globulin.
