Abstract
Summary: A case of mycotic aneurysm of the hepatic artery is presented in which recovery of the patient occurred after excision of the aneurysm. The literature of hepatic aneurysm is reviewed and this appears to be the first mycotic aneurysm of the hepatic artery recorded with recovery of the patient after excision of the aneurysm. The diagnosis, clinical features and treatment are discussed together with the significance of the blood supply to the liver. The use of operative angiography is advocated as a possible means of demonstrating the actual alternative blood supply of the liver when ligation of the hepatic artery seems necessary.
