Abstract
A microscopic nature of electrostatic rigidity of polyelectrolyte chain is investigated with use of Feynman variational method analogous to that used in the theory of large polaron. The obtained dependence of the rigidity on the ionic strength is in satisfactory agreement with the available experimental data for both high and low ionic strength of polyelectrolyte solution containing counterions. Keywords
