Abstract
We consider the nearest-neighbor p-state random Potts model on a Cayley tree of infinite coordination. The problem is formulated as a discrete mapping whose fixed points correspond to solutions deep inside the tree. The introduction of an Ansatz which allows for the breaking of the Potts symmetry leads to an instability of the spin-glass fixed point for p>4.Keywords
