Abstract
We attempt a two-particle, one-hole intermediate-structure interpretation of the giant dipole resonance located at 19.5-MeV excitation. A calculated doorway state at 19.1 MeV with a proton elastic escape width of 780 keV is associated with the observed resonance ( keV) in the giant-dipole-resonance region. The () resonance cross section calculated for this state is in good agreement with experiment.
