Continuum32+Doorways and theN15Giant Dipole Resonance

Abstract
We attempt a two-particle, one-hole intermediate-structure interpretation of the N15 giant dipole resonance located at 19.5-MeV excitation. A calculated doorway state at 19.1 MeV with a proton elastic escape width of 780 keV is associated with the observed 32+ resonance (Γp=1000 keV) in the giant-dipole-resonance region. The (p, γ0) resonance cross section calculated for this state is in good agreement with experiment.
