Abstract
A manifestly gauge-invariant theory of direct interaction between strings is presented. The equations of motion found have no constraints in the type of interaction. The field theory associated with a large class of direct interactions is presented. We also discuss a "two-body" type of interaction between particles and strings. Keywords
