Abstract
By means of substrate competition expts. with preps. of d-amino acid oxidase and amine oxidase, the authors found no evidence that there were different enzymes for the oxidation of different d-amino acids or amines. The specificity and affinity of the 2 enzymes differed in different animal spp. and tissues, but the suggestion was made that the enzyme protein was spp. and organ specific in the same way that catalytically inactive proteins showed these specificities.
