The rotational polarisation of linear molecules by collision

Abstract
An approximate relation between the relative sizes of cross sections from the ground state into different m states is derived. A previous deviation used pair potentials and the quantal impulse approximation. The present derivation makes different assumptions and shows the circumstances in which the relation becomes invalid.Keywords
